Kid Boogie was introduced to popping when he was 18 years old by Popping Sweepy of Rocksteady Crew. He was living in Los Angeles, just finished high school, and found dance as an escape from the inner-city trouble. He soon met the Poppers who would become his teachers and mentors Boogaloo Sam, Suga Pop, Skeeter Rabbitt, Pop’in Pete, and Pop N Taco (of the Electric Boogaloos), and Hugo AKA Mr. Smooth. He joined Machine Gone Funk (MGF) in 2003. They started to travel and win battles, gaining notoreity and respect.
