Alain “Hurrikane” Lauture – Hurrikane has performed with Madonna and Janet Jackson, as well as competed on So You Think You Can Dance. He’s also won several battles including Juste Debout, Hip Hop International, and Summer Dance Forever. Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, where he was surrounded by drum beats and instruments, Hurrikane started Locking in 2007 by learning solely through watching The Lockers on Soul Train. When he moved to New York, Hurrikane started going to battles, but still didn’t learn from anyone aside from the original Lockers, in order to properly pay homage to the style and culture. Locking gave Hurrikane the courage to be myself, and he hopes his students can find their own honesty and freedom through the movement. He advises them to be consistent in their dance journeys, because ?doing a little bit is better than doing nothing at all.” Omar “FireLock” Thomas – Having started his dance journey as a b-boy in 2000, FireLock began experimenting with Locking in 2003. He trained under Shock-a-Lock and Don “Campbellock” Campbell, and became a dancer on the Locking company, Lockism. FireLock takes pride in representing and passing on Don’s legacy, emphasizing his philosophy of “doing the Lock but putting yourself in it.” FireLock empowers future generations of Lockers to find themselves through dance, without feeling pressured in the process! Together, Hurrikane and FireLock are “UnorthoLockx”!
